Hi,
Our names are Lisa and Rachel and we are from Domenic Marchione Pharmacy in East Keilor. We have an amazing dad that comes into our pharmacy named Glenn and he is a super dad! This is his story:
The last five years have been the hardest and most defining years of my life. Leah and I went through more than most could ever imagine. In 2021, Leah suffered major respiratory failure and spent 22 days in ICU fighting for her life. During that time, she had to undergo an emergency caesarean to bring our beautiful son, Hendrix, into the world — one of our three amazing children. From that moment on, her fight for life became our family’s daily reality.
For the next two and a half years, Leah battled with her lungs while waiting for a double lung transplant. She was only days away from losing that fight when the call finally came — she was getting her new lungs. That surgery gave her a second chance at life, and for about 12 precious months, we got to see her smile, breathe freely, and live again. But unfortunately, that time was short-lived. Leah went into rejection and started struggling to breathe again.
From March this year, things began to decline. She developed organising pneumonia — a form of chronic rejection — along with a fungal infection, and her original autoimmune disease returned. Leah was back on oxygen 24/7, but even then, she never stopped fighting. For six long months she endured treatment after treatment, endless hospital stays, and moments of both hope and heartbreak.
Eventually, the treatments stopped working. Leah made the bravest decision of all — to stop her anti-rejection medication and let go peacefully. She passed away early on Tuesday morning, the 21st of October, 2025.
She was the strongest person I’ve ever known. Through everything, she still managed to love, to laugh, and to give. She’s left behind a legacy of courage, love, and resilience that will live on in me and our kids forever.
We want to try and raise as much money as we can to help support Glenn and his 3 children.
