Save Midnight the Dog!!!
Donation protected
This is Midnight and this is her story. Myself and my wife are owner/veterinarians of Montpelier Veterinary Hospital in Montpelier, Va. One Sunday afternoon as we were driving with our children in Goochland County we saw a stray dog walking down the middle of the opposite lane. Behind the dog came a large white pick-up truck who had to have at least a 50 yard clear visual of the dog. Not only did the driver of the pick up truck not slow down before they hit Midnight, but also did not bother to stop afterwards as she was lying in a ditch. She had no collar, no microchip and a search of pounds, shelters and animal hospitals in the area showed no evidence that she was previously owned. As fate would have it we were there at the exact moment of impact and were able to scoop Midnight up and bring her to our hospital for fluids, pain meds and supportive care. She has done remarkably well over the last 2 days, especially considering the impact that we witnessed. Unfortunately, x-rays showed a severely fractured pelvis and several broken ribs. Since we are a general practice, the surgery required to fix the pelvic fracture is beyond our area of expertise. We are committed to providing, at our cost, all in house supportive care before and after the surgery but are looking for donations to cover the cost of the orthopedic surgery. Too many stray dogs are left to die on the side of the road every day. This is one we can help. She is a sweet, loving dog who has been through a lot. We are hoping to give her the life she deserves. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
