Hello,

My name is Georgie, and I’m a retired nurse living in the United States. When war broke out in Ukraine in February, I immediately felt the need help the refugees fleeing the country.

Since the start of the war, I have visited the Romania-Ukraine border twice, and have helped thousands of refugees single handedly. I have brought 8 suitcases worth of clothes, food and medical supplies, and spent close to $20,000 to help those in need while staying at the border for over a month in total. I plan on returning to Romania again in early September.

1964, at age 12, I left Romania with my mom, dad, little brother, and 2 suitcases. Nobody in my family knew a word of English, and were thrust into a community that we didn’t understand, but we were coming to America, and that was a blessing in itself! I remember those who helped and taught us, so I feel it is my duty to give back to others, and give them an opportunity for a new life in a safer place.

Every additional dollar that I receive will find it’s way to a person in need, whether it’s in the form of food or medical aid. In addition to having no shelter, these women and children are extremely hungry. Feeding such large numbers of people is a very difficult and expensive task. I continue to pay for all my expenses; all the money donated to me will be given to those in need.

Prior to my second trip, $2,000 had been donated. This money has already been spent helping the refugees, and anything on top of this will be used on my next trip.
