Meghan spent Easter Sunday in the emergency room here in Kingman due to some pain she was experiencing. After a thorough series of tests, the doctors informed her they found cancer spread throughout her abdomen. The source of the cancer was unknown. It was deemed as peritoneal carcinomatosis (cancer), meaning that the cancer has originated from an area yet to be known and spread through the lining of the abdomen (peritoneum). Meg had a biopsy the following day to find the origination of the cancer. The biopsy determined it was ovarian cancer. Meghan and her husband Robert have now been to see specialists to make a treatment plan. Since the cancer has spread beyond the origination point, the doctors believe it is best to start chemotherapy right away, which will begin next week. After three rounds of chemo over the next nine weeks, they will attempt surgery to remove any of the cancer.
Anyone who knows my sister knows that she is a bright positive light in this world, with an incredibly contagious laugh and smile. This will undoubtedly be a long uphill battle, but Meg remains positive and has the strength and determination to make it through this. Please keep Meghan (and all those who love and adore her) in your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.
