Hi, my name is Lucy. I’m a 20 year old trans girl from Florida and am planning on moving eventually for a better living situation and just to continue my transition stress-free. My living situation at the moment isn’t ideal for many reasons. I live with a transphobic family which consists of my mom and grandma. I’ve started on HRT in March 2021 and my mom is still in denial over who I am. It always seems like she wants to go ahead and accept me entirely but then backtracks and uses gendered words against me that she knows I don’t appreciate like “my son” and he/him pronouns, when I’ve stated in the past to refer to me as Lucy and with she/her pronouns.
I don’t actually have a support system in real life. The only people who are there for me are my partner and close online friends. I’m planning on continuing my transition. I go to Planned Parenthood every few months to a year for appointments and since I don’t have insurance, I have to pay out-of-pocket. Paying for hormones as well can be expensive. I want to possibly transfer to a university in the state while pursuing housing opportunities with my partner. I’m going to use any of the money donated here to help cover costs such as apartment rent, food, and further transitioning (HRT and appointments).
I’m going to be planning soon on how I’ll be transferring to a university since I’m still doing undergrad and if that’s even the right thing for me. I’m going to pay for college classes with grants. Any money left over will be going to cover the excessive costs of college. I’m also planning on getting a job soon. Working a part-time job and attending college will be difficult to do so that’s why I’m hoping that financial aid and donations can help me out. I just want to be able to live my life how it’s truly meant to be and that’s why I want to move. I want to be able to continue on HRT and be the girl I’ve always dreamed of being since I was around 13.
