Love Unbound: LGBTQ Outreach Project

My name is Audrey Hartwell and I am a Social Work Student at Pittsburg State University. I am the organizer for an LGBTQ+ outreach project called Love Unbound.

 

Love Unbound: A call to support a change in acceptance, visibility, and social policy for those who are LGBTQ+.

 

Your donation goes to Q Space

Your donation will go to Q Space, a not-for-profit organization and social community of support for LGBTQ+ people in southeast Kansas. Located in Pittsburg, Kansas, Q Space was funded in December 2018. Q Space offers free educational trainings for the public, support for parents of LGBTQIA+ youth, support for local schools in creating inclusive policies, and financial support for gender affirming care.

Your donation will help their programs grow, and ensure that Q Space continues to serve LGBTQ+ people in Southeast Kansas.

 

Why should I donate to Q Space?

LGBTQ+ youth are more likely to experience a lack of acceptance, more likely to notice a lack of representation, and more likely to experience bullying and discrimination. This leads to increased mental health issues and suicide rates, lack of self-acceptance/self-esteem, and identity insecurity among LGBTQ youth.

LGBTQ+ youth are 3 times more likely to seriously consider suicide. However, when LGBTQ+ youth are surrounded by people that love and support them for who they are, and they have access to inclusive services, the risk for suicide significantly decreases. Self-esteem and self-love significantly increases with support and acceptance.

Your donation will support LGBTQ+ people in southeast Kansas, and ensure that they have access to a safe place and inclusive resources, which ultimately could save a life.
