Hello everyone! I am fundraising for Melanie and Matt Ayers. Matt was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He was recently informed that he also has nodules on his liver and lungs. Matt will begin chemo treatments on Monday, August 14th at Hillman.
Melanie and Matt have been married for almost 14 years. In that time, they have been no stranger to illness. Matt had prostate cancer nine years ago that was completely removed by surgery. On August 1, 2022, Matt underwent triple bypass surgery after feeling ill on a family vacation. Not long after that, he began having stomach issues. Matt was told he had IBS. After adjusting his diet and switching off and on meds, nothing helped. Over the last several months, Matt drastically lost weight. Mel was concerned and convinced him to go to the ER. That is where they received the devastating news that is was most likely cancer. After confirming with oncology and having additional scans, they found it had spread to the lungs and liver.
Mel has taken FMLA leave to care for Matt while he goes through his treatments. Everyone has asked her how they can help and she is so thankful to be surrounded by so much love. When I asked Mel what she needed, of course she said nothing. Money and food are two staples the Ayers family will definitely need during this difficult time. Please help me love them through it by supporting this campaign ❤️
