Love for Lennon

Donation protected
On Sunday July 30, Amy brought Lennon into emerge as he seemed off and she thought he may be a little constipated. After being sent to CHEO and examined by a paediatrician early Monday morning, they decided to do an ultrasound just to make sure.

Shawn and Amy’s world was turned upside down, Monday July 31, when they learned their 3 month old son had a very large tumour in his abdomen. This came as a huge shock as Lennon is the happiest, seemly healthiest, most typical 3 month old. He was thought to be constipated and now they were being admitted to CHEO to under go extensive testing. After a week at CHEO, blood work, urinalysis, an MRI, X-ray and a biopsy later they received the gut wrenching news that Lennons tumour was cancerous.

It is called Neuroblastoma, a rare cancer that usually affects children under the age of 5. The good news is it’s treatable. Due to the size of Lennys tumour he will require chemotherapy to hopefully shrink the tumour enough to safely remove with surgery.

This week Lennon will undergo a bone marrow biopsy and aspiration, as well as a MIBG scan to determine whether or not the cancer has spread. He will then receive his portacath and chemo will start early next week.

This has been devastating news for not only Lennon and his parents but Lennons (almost) 2 year old brother Banks and 12 year old sister Kalina. The family finds great comfort in the fact that Lenny is so innocently unaware. He is showing no signs of pain and is the same happy, smiley baby. They find strength in his strength.

Unfortunately the bills don’t stop throughout this difficult period. Not only do they have to worry about their usual payments, they are now incurring an assortment of new expenses. Over the next several months the Osman family will be making multiple trips to CHEO weekly to monitor and manage Lennons chemo, frequent blood work and blood transfusions. As well as some home care. With two under two, this will require both parents off work as Shawn and Amy need to put all their focus and attention into their children right now. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to offset some of the costs associated with travel and accommodation when needed, Lennons medications, childcare for Banks when needed and anything else they may need to help navigate their new normal.

Their family is not one to ask for help but the next few months are going to be a struggle both emotionally and financially. If you are able to help, any monetary donation would be greatly appreciated, as every penny counts. If you would like to support them another way please PM me and I will be happy to help.

The generosity and support you all have been showing, truly means the world to them! Let’s help our friends during this complicated time so that when Lenny beats this, he can look back and see all the love and support from you all!
