"Lonely" Feature Film

WATCH "LONELY" HERE:

Hello my name is Ty Sheetz. I'm a film director from Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Unlike any other project, Lonely holds a soft spot in my heart.

I recently read a study done by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) which reported that, “Approximately one-quarter (24 percent) of community dwelling Americans aged 65 and older are considered to be socially isolated, and a significant proportion of adults in the United States report feeling lonely (35 percent of adults aged 45 and older and 43 percent of adults aged 60 and older).”

Mission Statement:

Loneliness is a disease that can be cured with by the power of hope, love and connection. My film for all ages follows a victim of loneliness and abandonment. My dream for Lonely is to reach the 24% of aged Americans who can relate to Ruth Wilson, as well as the many others who are diseased with the depression that comes with feeling lonely. This film has the potential to appeal to a wide audience, including fans of both dramas and stories that explore the unique experiences of our elderly. By showcasing the challenges and triumphs of one such person in a creative and engaging way, we hope to raise awareness about the detriment of loneliness in older individuals as well as the importance of support and resources available to help combat this growing epidemic.

Characters:

Ruth Wilson

Ruth is an 80 year-old woman who struggles with depression. As a young mother, Ruth was careless and made terrible mistakes which caused her

husband and her daughter, Rachel, to leave her. Ruth suffers from the heavy shame of her past. At her core, Ruth is misunderstood, which has left her

feeling alone and unable to make a connection with others.

Why Lonely?

Lonely is a character drama that takes a compelling look into the human nature as it deals with a subject that is rapidly spreading in today’s world of isolation. Lonely echoes such recent indie films such as The Whale and Her; both financially and critically successful films in the same genre.

Unlike The Whale and Her, Lonely is rated for even the youngest of ages. This PG rating will aid us in marketing the film, which will help the film’s financial success. Lonely is being set up as a micro budget drama. However, we have a team in place that is both experienced in setting up and shooting low budget dramas.

Lonely is comprised of both experienced industry professionals and new talented creative voices. When it comes to crew, filmmakers, Ty Sheetz and Jarrett Ksiazek have agreed to shoot with a smaller crew. Not only will a smaller crew will be easier on the budget but it will provide a more intimate environment as the crew and cast explore Ruth Wilson and her loneliness. Lonely will also be looking to add more industry professionals to round off the crew as productions furthers to ensure we maintain the highest quality imaginable for the final product.

At the core, Lonely is a heartfelt story with a redemptive message culminating in an ending that will leave the audience feeling aware of the disease of loneliness and depression.

The Budget:

We are currently raising $60,000 to bring this film to life. Which will primarily pay for key crew salaries, equipment rental, locations. A portion of the budget will also be dedicated to marketing purposes to ensure the film is given a proper release and is able to be viewed by as many people as possible.
