In honor of the 10th birthday of Yangsi Tenzin Jigme Namdrol Rinpoche’s, the reincarnation of our beloved Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Tharchin, we are starting a medical fund for any of his future needs.
For the past 3 years, Rinpoche has been living in Delhi with his parents and going to a private primary school during the day. After school he attends daily tutoring sessions to perfect his English, and at night, he practices his scripture recitation. Now that he is fluent in English, Rinpoche will be returning to Sera Mey Monastery this month full time to continue his monastic training with Geshe Lotar and other high lamas.
Over the last few years he has been suffering from recurring ear infections and has had to endure several painful surgeries to correct the problem. Any money raised will go towards paying for previous surgeries and into a fund for any future medical needs.
Rinpoche is energetic, clever, sensitive, observant, and compassionate. In some ways, he is like most kids: he likes r&b music and his xbox, playing with legos, and has an affinity for baseball and country western hats. In other ways, he has a wisdom, intensity, and sensitivity well beyond his age. One minute he is running around chasing his friends, and the next he is espousing wisdom and bringing up memories from his past life. I have been fortunate enough to spend quite a bit of time getting to know him and his family. His parents are committed practitioners, extremely devoted to the dharma, and will do anything to ensure that Rinpoche gets the best education so that he can serve as many people as possible when the time comes.
