Lillie, my precious hippo potato, became seriously ill on September 15. We first took her to a local vet, where she was diagnosed with pancreatitis. After staying there for two days, she seemed to be doing much better and was sent home. Sadly, about 18 hours later, she became sick again. After another visit with the local vet, she was referred to UGA Veterinary Hospital in Athens for more help.

After multiple scans and days of searching for answers, doctors found something in Lillie’s small intestine near her stomach on September 21, and she needed emergency surgery right away. She lost 5 cm of her small intestine and is now recovering with a feeding tube because she has not been eating. Through all of this, she has kept wagging and smiling, trying so hard to push through what was clearly extreme discomfort.

Lillie came from a hoarding situation and was only around 38 pounds when we brought her home from our local shelter when she should have weighed about 60 pounds. Since day one, she has been nothing but smiles and sunshine and grandpa snore. She has brought so much joy into our home over the years, from her daily lizard time to the way she brightens even the smallest moments.(like tagging team with the outdoor cat to catch a squirrel …..) Lillie deserves the best, and we want to give her every chance to recover and come home happy.

This fundraiser will help cover the treatment Lillie has already received at UGA Veterinary Hospital, as well as any additional care she may still need while she remains there. We recently had to pay for a brand new AC unit, and this emergency has put us in a very delicate financial position. Right now, we are hoping Lillie can come home soon, depending on her recovery.

Any donation, no matter the amount, would help ease the cost of Lillie’s care and mean so much to us. If you are not able to give, sharing this fundraiser would also help us tremendously. Thank you for supporting Lillie and keeping her in your thoughts as she fights to heal. If we surpass our goal I will donate the rest to either Newton county animal shelter or UGA animal vet hospital.
