A Heartbreaking Loss: Help Richard's Grieving Family

This GoFundMe is lovingly made on behalf of the Carrillo, Martinez, and Brown family.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the tragic news of the sudden and absolutely devastating loss of Richard Cervantes Carrillo (affectionally known to those closest to him as 'Peanut') on Friday, June 28, 2024. He was only 32 years old.

Our community has lost an amazing father, wonderful husband,

an extremely devoted family member,

and deeply admired friend.

Richard was the type of genuinely caring person who wouldn't hesitate to drop anything for his loved ones - sharing his kindness and generosity with strangers he didn't even know. He had a HUGE heart and warmhearted spirit that radiated from him, with always the biggest smile on his face.

Richard's family was the center of his world; he always looked out for everyone. We know Richard would want his family to be supported and looked after in every possible way.

He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Sofia, and their two young sons, Richy (13) and Leo (6). He played a vital role in a large, extended family, and is survived by his siblings, parents, nephews and nieces, cousins, close friends, and many more.

This fund is created to help Sofia as she navigates the difficult journey of coping with the unimaginable loss of her husband, while also caring for their children.

Richard was the primary breadwinner and the last thing his family should have to worry about is the financial strain during this trying period and in the future. We are hoping this page can help alleviate some of their upcoming financial burdens. All donations will go directly toward memorial costs, immediate living expenses, and supporting children's care and activities such as education, camps, sports, and healthcare.

Richard's legacy will be cherished forever.

He will be remembered as a protector and guardian to his loved ones.

He was brave and insightful, the epitome of a big brother to look up to. He served our country in the army as Captain Cervantes Carrillo and was highly revered as a mentor and community leader at the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA), as well as a dedicated youth football, soccer, and basketball coach.

To know Peanut meant feeling appreciated and supported, inspired by his determination, and comforted by his easygoing warmth and humor.

The outpouring of love and solidarity from friends and community during this horrific time means the world. A financial donation, whether big or small, will have a tremendous impact on this young family's time of grieving.
