Liam and Kara are dear friends of mine. Liam himself is an adventurer and skydiver as well as a loving father, husband and great friend to many. I have known them both for many years. We have shared family heartaches and loss as well as personal achievements and holidays as family and friends through the years. It has been a few weeks now since we found out Liam was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. It was a shock to us all to say the least. Kara has expressed a little of what she is feeling below.

"Finding out that your 40 year old husband, life partner and father to your beautiful children has stage 4 brain cancer feels surreal. It feels as if you are floating and things are moving around you, nothing seems to make sense. You don't understand why this is happening to you and your family, when such a wonderful soul should have half of his life yet to live. Then, there comes a point in everyone's life that you have to decide whether to give up and go slowly or decide that you are going to stand up and fight hard, and tell the world the impossible is possible. To follow a new path and to look death in face and say "No, I am not ready there are still things that I need to do here on earth, I am not going down like this!" As a good friend told us "to pray like it all depends on God, and work like it all depends on you."

We feel truly blessed to have so many friends and family members supporting us and refusing to give up as well. We know that we are not fighting this battle alone, but we are fighting as a strong force of love surrounds us. The love people have shown has been holding us up, and loving arms have been embracing us and protecting us. You realize what is important in life, and that is life, friendship and the love we show for one another. So we are choosing to look around each and every day and see all of the things we can be grateful for. Liam's story has not been written yet, and his song hasn't been sung, and it's not over until it's over. As many of you know that Liam intends to leave this world kicking and screaming by an airplane or by the fight he will put up and the example of strength and bravery his children, friends and family will remember him by. This world will truly be a happier, funnier and better place with Liam.
Thank you for all of the love and support you have shown in giving Liam a chance to get the treatments we truly believe will help to save him. We are committed to sharing our story and all of the treatments and alternative treatments we are trying and hopefully help others who are looking for answers and fighting as we are. We love you Liam, stay strong, live long, dream big, you are not alone."
