LHJNA's Covid-19 Preparedness Fund

For the past 111 years, Leonard Hall Junior Naval Academy, LHJNA,  has served the Southern Maryland community by educating and shaping the lives of our children...children who have grown up to be leaders in our community and across the country.  As we all know, everything changed for our world and more specifically schools on March 13, 2020.  For LHJNA, this was our last day of in-school instruction for the 19/20 school year.  In-school instruction for LHJNA is more than just what is learned in the classroom, the success of our school's leadership program is based on the structure, discipline, and engagement that the military component  provides on an in-person basis.  With the dedication and support from our staff and families, we  successfully navigated through virtual learning after March 13th, but our goal is to be back in school so that we can continue fostering the growth of our students in and out of the classroom.

The school's administration is working diligently to start school on August 25, 2020 with a "back to normal" in-school learning program for students.  However, one of our unique challenges is that we lack the funding needed for some preparedness needs.  There are many technology upgrades needed as well as safety and hygiene requirements for the facility that are vital for the protection of our staff and students.  LHJNA does not have "extra" funding to ensure that our technology and safety and hygiene requirements  are met.  To further complicate finances, LHJNA had to forego all fundraising since the pandemic began and we are unsure when traditional fundraising will begin again for LHJNA.

The funds raised from your donation will help support our technology upgrades needed since we may see periods of virtual learning due to community outbreaks and also provide us with the ability to ensure that our staff and students are in a safe and healthy physical environment on a daily basis.  Any amount is greatly appreciated and your charitable donation to this worthy cause is fully tax deductible.  We hope that we can count on your commitment in supporting our efforts to provide a premiere education for future leaders in Southern Maryland.
