LGBTQ Donations in honor of Andre

Andre Buckerfield O’Brien was a rare person. He lived with passion and spark that few people are comfortable expressing in their everyday life. The first day I met Andre he was wearing a pair a shiny dress shoes with his navy blue uniform shorts in second grade. On the playground this was unheard of. Who was this kid?
He was a small, sassy boy unabashedly being himself. Living so fully can sometimes scare others, and fear can bring out the worse types of bullying, unkindness, and ignorance. Andre experienced many of these things but they never dimmed his spark.
In honor of his life and memory Andre’s mother and husband are asking us to forgo the traditional sending of flowers and instead donate to the Oakland Unified School Districts LGBTQ Programming for Youth. Lets keep Andre’s bold, honest and outspoken spirit alive by supporting LBGTQ kids and helping them to live an authentic and joyful life.
