Hey everyone !
My name is Jovanni also known as the Connecticut Plus-size Dancing Diva, Xiomarie LaBeija. I grew up always watching the Continental Pageant System, and studying many legendary drag queens on myspace and facebook. Just wishing that one day I can be in their shoes.
On January 7th, I travelled from Hartford, CT to Boston, MA where I competed in the very first Miss New England Continental Plus Preliminary Pageant. Ironically it was my very first time as well. That night I qualified for Nationals!
I decided to do the pageant because it has always been something I wanted to do, but i mainly did it for my state. I was born and raised in Connecticut and as i grow older the resources i used to have are now gone. Many safe zones are being taken away and Connecticut is no longer getting the acknowledgment it deserves.
I stand up as a fighter for my dreams but more for my home. I qualified in this pageant but i feel like this is the oppurtunity i need to bring my home back to life.
I, Xiomarie LaBeija, ask you to help bring me to Nationals. With your help and support i will be able to live my dream of taking the stage and also showcase what Connecticut talent has to offer.
The amount i am asking includes my round trip flight from Hartford, CT to Chicago, IL. It will also include my hotel where i will be staying and preparing which is also 10 minutes away from the actual pageant venue. It also includes the materials used in my overall package. I want to bring my best and with your help i know i can!
