Dear Friends,
As you may know, Paul Leduc has been valiantly fighting a brain tumor for the past 21 years. He has endured 5 brain tumor surgeries, a spinal cord tumor resection, countless cycles of chemotherapy, proton beam and stereotactic radiation therapy treatments and eye surgery to preserve the small amount of remaining vision not destroyed by the tumor. It is unclear what the path forward is at this point, but we know it will not be easy. Paul has had several unplanned hospitalizations in Boston in addition to the scheduled procedures, most recently from hemorrhage in the area of the progressive brain tumor. He has braved significant pain, visual changes and difficulty with all activities of daily living.
As you can imagine, there are enormous costs associated with such a serious long-term illness. Paul is no longer able to work. Mimi, his amazing and strong wife, has needed to take time off to care for him. His two young adult sons have endured their father’s illness for over two decades and are equally as heroic. His doctors are in Boston, so they are frequently driving back and forth; paying for gas, parking, hotels and food. He will need twenty-four-hour caregivers at home, assistive devices and expensive medications, much of which is not covered by insurance.
Many of you -- friends, family and coworkers -- of both Paul and Mimi, have been looking for ways to help. We would like to raise money for this deserving man and his family, so that Mimi can remain active in Paul’s care during this stressful time. Your kind donations will assist with food, medications, medical transportation and caregiver expenses. Paul worked for Woonsocket Senior Services as their Operations Manager for 20 years. He and his wife Mimi volunteered at Saint Bernard Church for 12 years, serving “food for the generations of faith” program. He prepared community meals for needy families on countless Sundays. Let’s now come together as a community to help them.
