Plot synopsis:

One in the Same is the story of Cathy, a teen girl who ran away from her home. Leaving behind her toxic and abusive home environment, Cathy finds herself in a secluded outdoor space, where she struggles with her mental health. Cathy is approached by a young woman named Judy, who guides her from a dark mental state. A situation that Judy understands through personal experience. This story is meant to be a statement; you are not alone.

Why I wrote this script:

The story I wanted to tell has modern-day cultural aspects I wanted to address, as well as personal life experiences from myself and the people around me. We live in an era where mental health problems are a significant part of youth life. In the 2020s and even the 2010s, you could not go but a few weeks at a school before you hear about someone's mental health problems, whether it be because the living situation in these kids' homes is toxic and abusive or outside factors such as school bullying and being socially outcasted. There are many reasons why this is the case, and the fact that these mental health issues are now cultural aspects of the US is my reasoning for making this film. The problems must be addressed.

My experience on set:

On the set of this movie, I was working with adults with disabilities, and in truth, these individuals are some of the most dedicated and creative individuals in the industry. This production helped us all to gain experience on the set and apply that to future shows. In addition, I, a person on the Autism spectrum, learned how to lead as a director in both a logistical and creative manner. Our crew has the best; I wouldn’t replace them with anyone else.
