Lauren Kennedy is a 29 year old wife, and mother to her two children. On April 18th, her world was turned upside down as doctors confirmed she has stage 3 breast cancer.  Being so young, this came as a complete shock to Lauren and her family.  Upon having several tests, biopsies, and scans done, it was determined that Lauren’s cancer is ER/PR positive and HER2 negative and has spread to her lymph nodes, affecting at least 4 of them. Thankfully, the cancer did not spread beyond that .  So far, Lauren’s treatment plan is as follows: 

 Lauren had a port put in on May 20th and started her first round of chemo on May 21st. 

*5 Months of chemo.  She will start off with a combination of 2 drugs given once every 2 weeks for 8 weeks. Then She will get 1 drug once a week for 12 weeks.

*Double mastectomy

*Radiation 5 days a week for 4-6 weeks

*Several reconstruction surgeries following all the above

As I'm sure anyone can understand, this process is extremely  overwhelming and costly. Lauren will be out of work for the entirety of her treatments and recovery.  

As If this family wasn’t already going through enough, two weeks after Lauren’s diagnosis, her older sister Jenn, age 31, was also diagnosed with breast cancer. They will be in the care of the same doctors and plan on scheduling treatments together. This family has handled this awful situation  with strength and positivity like I have never seen nor could have ever imagined.
