Lakita's Story

My beloved sister in law was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. The cancer started in her knee and with chemotherapy, the cancer went into remission. A year ago, Lakita went for a scan and received the devastating news that the cancer had metastasized to her lungs. It is now in stage 4.

Lakita, she is a hardworking, single mother of three boys who has so much pride. She has continued to work and even completed a program to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Due to the progression of the cancer, she is unable to work or be the awesome hairstylist that she is for many of her friends and family. Because of the pride and courage she has, Lakita decided to take on this fight alone all while taking care of her boys. Lakita is one of the strongest people I know. Her bravery is unparalleled and I am in awe of her strength.

Lakita decided to undergo chemotherapy and continue to fight but as the cancer has progressed, it has left her in a pain that is not easily imagined.
