Lake’s Journey

On October 7th, 2019 Lake Allen Alexander Becerra was born to Whisper Pitmann and Alex Becerra. On Friday November 8th, 2019 just a month after his birth Whisper and Alex got the most devastating news any parent could get; little Lake was diagnosed with a brain tumor with cells that have spread down his spine and needed almost immediate surgery. Lake underwent his first surgery on Monday November 11th, after a several hour long surgery Lake was out and recovering well the surgeons were able to remove 10% of the tumor and got 50% through the surgery. The surgeons and doctors prepared Whisper & Alex by letting them know he would need another surgery later this week. However later Monday night they found out the tube was not draining and Lake had blood and fluid build up and would need to go back into surgery right away Tuesday morning. After another lengthy surgery several hours long again Lake was out of surgery, the surgeons were able to remove ALL of his tumor. Praise God! Lake is now recovering and on a ventilator, hooked up to EEG monitoring to monitor his brain function and seizures. He just had an MRI and they’re awaiting results. They will be doing another MRI tomorrow for his 24 hr post op. They say the seizures will be normal for the amount of time he was under anesthesia and how much blood he lost. They just got his blood pressure under control after his MRI & scan and they say it is looking okay with no major bleeding. They did test the tumor & have not received any results yet. Lake has a long road ahead of him, and both parents are off of work right now without pay. Travel is far from home, and Lake is the youngest of 6 siblings, during this time I’m asking for any help for this family! Food, travel, daily living costs, bills while away from home & work, hospital expenses, all of it is adding up quickly. Whisper and Alex appreciate everything and are so thankful for the way everyone has pulled together for them thus far. Please continue to pray for them and strength for all of them & their family throughout Lake’s journey as this is going to be a long haul for them and they need all the prayers they can get.
