Lainey Mae's Journey
Donation protected
Im Danielle, and I am Lainey Mae's mom. We have been through a lot the past week, with ups and downs. Im here to tell the story of Laineys Journey and in the process asking for donations to help me through this process.
It all started with a simple anatomy scan on June 20th 2023. Lainey was growing amazingly. How ever mom was having some complications.
I was diagnosed weeks earlier with gestational diabetes which was difficult to manage even with a changed diet and meds, my blood pressure was slightly elevated so the neonatalolist ordered labs for me. Well the labs came back and my liver enzymes were extremely high, so I was admitted to labor and delivery for monitoring. As the day and night progressed so did my liver enzymes.
My blood pressure started to become a bit elevated as well.... before I knew it they had me on a Magnesium drip (that was fun) and my legs started twitching which turned into convulsing. As my lower body was basically seizing in med they gave me an IV or 2mg of ativian and before I could blink im being rushed to the OR. To have a c-section.
Baby Lainey was born on 6.21.23 at 344 am (at 28 weeks). She was rushed to the nicu where they started her on a cpap for breathing and ivs for fluids. The next day i was able to see my baby girl. It took 96 hours before I could hold her. They had to wait 72 hours to make sure she was cleared of any brain hemorrhages. After 72 I had to wait another 24 hours as she was having issues w her tummy. FINALLY I got to hold my baby. Well that lasted about a day and half. Then her belly started having issues again. Well on Tuesday June 27th I received a call no parent wants to hear. The doctor told me there was too my air in Laineys tummy and it was possibly a tear in her intestine, she was also running a fever, and her heart rate was over 200. She told me to come as soon as possible and Lainey needed to be transferred to Children's hospital for emergency surgey.
I rushed to the hospital and then to children's with the ambulance right behind me. Thats when the surgeon gave me news I did not want to here.
The surgeon said there's a chance her intestine could be completely dead (NEC) and if that is the case she wont survive. The surgeon said she didnt think it was the case but couldn't rule it out and had to prepare me for anything. My world stopped moving at that point. Until then I was holding it together pretty well. After I was told she may not make it I completely lost it and broke down crying.
That is when I took to Facebook and asked for prayers and good vibes.... The surgery lasted about 2 hours and by the grace of god and many prayers she came out of surgery well and all they found was a tiny perforation in her intestine. This was a relief considering the alternative. The next couple days were up and down. They nurses and docs are working on keeping her pressures stable as Blood pressure keeps dropping low. They have her on 2 different blood pressure meds and a steriod. In addition to that little Lainey is septic, so she is on 2 antibiotics for that, and 2 antibiotics for any infection that couldve came from her surgery.
With all this being said I am trying to spend as much time with Lainey as possible. I can and have set a claim for short term disability which is only 70% of my paycheck.
Im asking for any donations at all to help me with rent, bills, or even just coffee as im at children's with Lainey quite a bit. Anything will help, and if you're in a tight spot financially I understand and am more than happy with just prayers.
Thank you in advanced.
