Support for the Pierce Family

Tim, Stephanie and Hazel experienced a tragedy: Their shop—a place of craft, care, and creativity—was destroyed by fire. Please join us in supporting this family as they recover from this loss.

This is a photo of Hazel, working in the shop.

While they lost a building full of items that are irreplaceable because of age and/or sentimental value, the humans and animals are all physically fine. It will, however, be a long process to replace the physical items (as much as that is possible) and a longer one still to recover from the grief.

From Stephanie: "We have to figure out all the things. Tim was looking forward to a new business venture this year that he’d lined up some work already for and that he spent last week alone in an Air B&B planning for. We aren’t sure what’s next for that. He lost all of his tools…planer, table saw, bandsaw, compound miter saw, welder, air compressor, lathe, workbench, drill press, chainsaw, and snowblower…the list of home and professional tools will be a long one. The saddest is how many lovingly restored hand tools are lost. Tim had collected them over the years, some bought new and many very old ones acquired from elder craftsmen who wanted to pass them on and have them used. Tim fixed and used them. They are lost.

We also lost all of my Uncle Harry’s carving tools that we’d saved in fond remembrance."
