Alexis's Ovarian Cancer Fund
Spende geschützt
On July 5, 1996 our lives were forever changed with the birth of our beautiful daughter, Alexis. To say that Alexis has been a blessing in our lives would be an understatement. For almost 20 years, we have watched her grow from the little girl who stole our hearts into a beautiful young woman who has worked hard to accomplish everything and anything she set her mind to, including spending her freshman year of college in Chicago where she made us so incredibly proud by making the dean's list.
Our world was turned upside down on February 3, 2016 when Alexis was taken to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain. Within a few hours, she was in surgery to have a six inch mass removed from her right ovary. Unfortunately the doctors were unable to remove just the mass and were forced to remove the entire ovary and Fallopian tube due to a torsion which caused it to rupture. They also informed us her left ovary had the same growth beginning. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting our worst fears were confirmed, the growth was cancerous. We were told it was ovarian dysgerminoma.
Alexis is currently going through the process of egg retrieval to keep the dream of one day having her own children a possibility in the event she has to have her remaining ovary completely removed. Once this process is complete she will undergo surgery to remove the mass on March 28 2016, and hopefully only the mass, from her remaining ovary before beginning chemotherapy.
Alexis has had to drop her classes at school and take leave from her job as a CNA in order to focus on fighting for her health. Despite the emotional and physical challenges she is facing she remains an inspiration to us all as she remains steadfast in her determination to optimistically fight this battle head on.
Asking for help is not something we normally do; however the medical bills keep coming and we are just beginning down this long road. They, in addition to the everyday expenses of life for a college student (rent, utilities, food, etc), have become overwhelming. We appreciate any donation you may be able and willing to give. If you are unable to donate money we always accept love and prayers.
God bless
