Anthony's Fight Against Cancer

On Monday, January 19th, Anthony Cordero and his family received shocking and devastating news that the abdominal pain he was experiencing was due to an extremely rare and very agressive type of pediatric cancer called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor or Sarcoma. He is 23 years old.
There are reports of only about 200 cases documented of this disease making no well established standard of care available. As in Anthony's case, DSRCT can often go undiagnosed until Stage IV (4) when the cancer has already spread to other areas of the body making it more difficult to treat.
While the prognosis was poor, we were relieved to learn that there are clinical trials for experimental treatments taking place at the well known St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Tennessee. On Tuesday, Anthony, his mom and oldest brother will make the trip to St. Jude's where he will spend the next several months to a year receiving the best possible care.
He is well known to those who love him for his sense of humor, love of animals and children, an incredible hair and fashion sense, a genuinely contagious smile and some killer dance moves that he's looking forward to sharing with his young hospital mates at St. Jude's.
Over the next year, Anthony and his family will have many expenses from lost time at work, travel and other necessities to keep the family close by as he receives treatment far from home. It is our hope that your support and encouragement might ease the financial burden and emotional hardships that Anthony and his family will necessarily endure with chemo, surgeries, and radiation in the next months.
