Build Virginia and kids a house!
Donativo protegido
Hi all, I am Robin McBurney and many of you know me from renting my house Casa Bella, in Antigua, Guatemala.
Virginia Olviedo, the housekeeper at Casa Bella, has begun building her house! She has been living in three different homes over the last five years, and she wants stability for her young family. Her last home was affected by Volcan de Fuego, and while it can be repaired, the heavy ash in the area makes her children sick with breathing difficulties, so they cannot return to that house.
A few years ago, Virginia’s father gave her a small piece of land in Ciudad Vieja. She has an architectural plan to build a 600 square feet/one story house with two bedrooms and one bath. She has begun building the two bedrooms and some of the property line walls. She has saved $5000. to start construction. I would like to raise $10,000. for her because the barebones house will be around $10,000. with the extra $5000. to buy windows and doors, floor tile, a pila, bathroom fixtures, and a kitchen sink. If there is extra money it will go towards furnishing the house as she has very few house items.
Many of you have met Virginia and know what a wonderful person she is and that she is a very hard worker. Please help her realize her dream and donate towards her house today! She and her children will be very grateful since she will be the first person in her entire family to have her own home. Gracias/thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I will post new pictures as the house gets built. It is all very exciting...
Go Fund Me asked me to explain how I will move the money. I will put the money in my USA Bank of America account and move it to my BAM account in Antigua. I have set up the ability to transfer money into a private Mastil (the building supplier) BAM account where Virginia can buy her materials, which have been identified and priced.
Virginia just opened up an account at BAM so that I can also transfer money into her account. This money will pay for the builders. She will get receipt signatures each time she pays them. I will take photos of the money I have transferred to Mastil and Virginia to show that it’s going toward the building of the house.
