Kimberly Shursen - Colon Cancer Relief Fund

Donation protected

As many of you know, my mom, Kimberly Shursen, was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. This comes about a year and a half after her son, Anthony, received the same awful diagnosis. Kimberly is the primary caretaker of her grandson, Lukas (4), and she's going to need some help in the days ahead.

On October 19th, Kimberly will be undergoing a partial colectomy to have most of her Cecum removed (that is part of the colon). Once this happens, she will be "out of commission" (for a lack of better term) for at least a month. Her son, Anthony, has been co-raising Lukas with her for the better part of the last 4 years. Unfortunately, he works a full time (M-F, 8-5) job and cannot assist except for on the nights and weekends.

She doesn't know that I am creating this GoFundMe, and quite honestly, she may be mad that I am, but my mom has lived a very unselfish life giving everything she has to us kids (Andy, Anthony, Adam, and now Lukas). She may not ask for help verbally, but I can see that she is scared and in dire need of some assistance.

So what will the money be used for?

Daycare for Lukas and possibly some in-home assistance for daily chores she can no longer do (cleaning, cooking, taking the dogs out, etc.).

We recognize that Anthony (her second born) had a very successful GoFundMe just a year and a half ago, but that money went towards his medical care and wellbeing. If you gave to that one, please don't feel as though you have to give to this one. Heck, even if you didn't give to that one, don't feel like you have to give to this one! This is for the people who have written and asked, "Is there anything I can do?" Now there is. You can help by making a small donation that will go toward ensuring that Lukas is taken care of so that Kimberly is able to heal properly.

If you aren't in a position to donate, would you mind sharing this GoFundMe on your Facebook page?

Sometimes we have to humble ourselves and ask for help. Kimberly is not the type to ask for help, especially from non-family members, so I will ask on her behalf just as she did for me when I was sick.

Thank you and God bless!
