Kidney Transplant! after surgery

Hello! A week ago, Luis (7yr old) had a kidney transplant! He was on stage IV renal disease and the probabilities of dialysis were increasing, a transplant was his only chance to avoid it since failure was due to being born premature at 24 weeks.

It happened so fast! There are mixed emotions, gratitude, happiness, hope, faith and at the same time worries for what's next, next year and specially next few months are crucial to keep the new kidney healthy! We will have frequent blood draws and clinic visits, he will require care 24/7.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for every one who has reached out to offer help, Luis's immune system is weaken so his body won't fight the kidney ~ this is why if you'd like to contribute here instead of bringing something home we will greatly appreciate it I can't wait to see him thrive, grow and have a "normal" life after his transplant

Holaa! Hace una semana, Luis quien tiene 7 añitos tuvo un transplante de riñón! Estaba en etapa IV de disfunsión renal y era su única manera de evadir la diálisis pues la falla era por su nacimiento prematuro a las 24 semanas.

Todo pasó tan rápido! Hay muchas emociones encontradas ~ gratitud, felicidad, esperanza, fé! Y al mismo tiempo preocupación por lo que viene, el primer año - en especial los primeros meses son cruciales para mantener sano el riñón, tendremos muchas citas y chequeos, necesitará cuidados 24/7.

Estamos tan agradecidos con tantas personas que nos han ofrecido ayuda! El sistema inmune está debilitado para que su cuerpo no rechace el riñón, no tiene defensas y está en alto riesgo de infección. Es por eso que si gustan ayudarnos por este medio en lugar de traer algo a nuestra casa, estaremos muy agradecidos no podemos esperar verlo mejorar, crecer y llevar una vida "normal" después de su transplante
