Khmer Krom Education Center

The Khmer Krom Association of Iowa is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) that aims to provide numerous facilities and services to meet the spiritual, social and educational needs of the Khmer Krom population of Iowa, and the surrounding states. Facilities will include an educational and administrative center, a meditation center and a Buddhist temple. Our goal is to make our facilities available to other social service organizations, as well as to medical and legal outreach service providers. The services we plan to provide will include community outreach, prevention and intervention for youth, opportunities for immunizations and screenings, educational services for new citizens, remediation and tutoring for students for whom English is not their primary language, and health and nutritional education. We will also offer translation services as well as assistance to the elderly and infirm. Our temple will be overseen by a Theravada Buddhist monk, who will provide spiritual guidance and education.
