Help Kenny live life FULLY and make GREAT memories
Donation protected
Last September my father Kenny George was diagnosed with ALS (more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease). As the months have passed his mobility has drastically declined. Dad is now wheelchair-bound and needs full assistance with his daily routine. Sadly, due to the nature of this disease, time is not on our side. His body will continue to weaken, his speech will leave him, and engaging in activities he enjoys will become even more difficult as time passes.
Kenny's life is limited to the confines of these walls and his free spirit deserves to take adventures, visit friends and family, and make as many memories as possible with those he loves. Unfortunately, we do not have a vehicle to transport him in his wheelchair so he is stuck at home unable to live like he desires and deserves to live.
With the necessary remodels needed at home on the bathroom and the ramp for him to get out of the house available funds have been depleted. It's hard to express how sad it is to invest so much to make home accessible but now he can't go further than the driveway. The cost of an accessible vehicle is out of reach for him and his family after the remodels. Modifying his current van could be upwards of $20,000 and a new accessible van is twice that!
Imagine this, scheduling a taxi ride to and from a doctor's appointment and having to wait hours upon hours to be picked up and taken home. Trying to pay your respects at a friend's funeral and waiting over 3 hours in the cemetery because your ride never showed. Missing grandchildren's birthdays, graduations, activities, and celebrations simply because you can't get a ride. Kenny has experienced all of this, time and time again.
I want my father to be able to enjoy life, enjoy time with his friends and family, go see the sights, make memories, enjoy nature and pursue his passions. I want my father to be able to LIVE and even more LIVE FULLY!
We are planning a benefit dinner on October 1st in his hometown of Baltimore, Ohio where local friends and family can gather to help us meet this goal. For those of you unable to attend we've set up this go fund me! Every penny counts and we GREATLY appreciate any help we can get towards helping Kenny regain his freedom to make new wonderful memories!
