It's with heavy hearts that the Martin family conveys sad news that our beloved Kelly has passed away. Kelly suffered a heart attack on July 14th and later passed on July 20th, the day before his 62nd birthday. Kelly was one of the kindest, most thoughtful, genuine souls you would ever know. His warm personality made the people he met feel special and he would often greet or speak to them in their native language, purposely learning different phrases in various languages to strike up friendly conversations with strangers who became his new friends. Kelly was a loving husband, father, son, brother, in-law, friend and truly a one-of-a-kind person and good man. As we grieve the loss of Kelly, we hurt for his wife Lanelle and young sons Christian and Will (pictured above). He had undergone several lifesaving surgeries at two separate Seattle area hospitals. The procedures included angioplasty, a catheter heart pump, a temporary pacemaker, and a double bypass surgery all within a week. Those surgeries were all successful and our family celebrated his seemingly stable condition along the way. Kelly’s family was filled with relief and tears of joy after his successful final double bypass surgery on Friday July 18th. Kelly was transferred out of the ICU on Saturday July 19th and while in recovery of the double bypass surgery, Kelly’s improved heart experienced abnormalities and suffered another cardiac arrest. The medical staff responded immediately, but Kelly's heart had sustained too much damage to recover. This was completely unexpected. The shock and devastation of losing Kelly leaves Lanelle and her sons deeply grieving. Unfortunately, Kelly’s disability income discontinued upon his death and was the Martin family's main source of income for the last eight years following the 2017 heart attack. Kelly's term life insurance had lapsed, and he became uninsurable due to the heart attack and stroke he suffered eight years ago. With little to no income, lack of any substantial life insurance and mounting medical bills estimated at $200k before insurance we ask for your help to get them through this difficult time. Your donation, no matter what the size will go towards their home, food, everyday essentials and relief from overwhelming medical bills. We understand this may be a hard time for your family and even if you cannot give, please share this GoFundMe page with others who can. Thanking you in advance for your thoughts and prayers.
