Hi Everybody,
Since early mid-July I have been sick in a way I’ve never experienced before. It appears to have started as a particularly bad viral GI infection. At first I thought it was Covid, even though I have been masked and isolated pretty much as long as the pandemic has been happening. I’ve been tested twice. At the height of my symptoms, both tests came back negative. I haven’t experienced any of the tell-tale symptoms, except for the GI and tachycardia-related ones, which also qualify as being symptoms for a lot of other stuff. Also Chris has not fallen ill over this time, so I feel confident at this point it is not Covid. My doctor also gave me the clear to leave isolation more than three weeks ago.
Right before my first official doctor’s appointment, I had a heart scare (my pulse reached 150 and my feet turned a lavender purple) and rushed to the ER, where I was told I had anxiety, a viral GI infection, given fluids, and was told I would be fine. But I wasn’t.
Since then, I have visited doctors and taken SO many tests. I have a lot more to go. I'm trying to rule out disautonomia with my cardiologist. So far, my only abnormal test result is for Celiac’s. I have an endoscopy/colonoscopy scheduled for the last day in August. We’re ruling things out, which is good. That’s why the endoscopy, so they can take biopsies for a possible diagnosis of Celiac's. And the colonoscopy will be to check for damage, polyps and the big C. Until I find out, I'll be continuing this journey of doctors and tests. My hope is that after this round, we'll know what's going on, though.
Why this fundraiser: I am already in debt for bills and still have many more appointments to go. Like so many of my friends in creative industries, I’ve been unemployed and uninsured since the pandemic started. I would much rather it be a kickstarter for a movie I want to shoot or a performance I want to make, but this is where I’m at.
The pandemic has taken all of the savings I had been working on collecting over the past year, so I don’t really have a choice. If you can spare anything, me and my crazy body will be eternally grateful. I will keep you all updated as I find out more. Love to you all!
