Keira's therapy fund
Spende geschützt
Hi my names Cheryl and I'm mum to 2 beautiful girls and I would like to set up a GoFundMe page for our gorgeous daughter Keira who is 8 years old.
Tragically, in August 2022, my daughter had an accident and has suffered from an hypoxic brain injury. She was transported to St George’s hospital where we spent 4 months we was told she wouldn't even be able to breathe on her own, and have no quality of life even if she did, but as always she proved them wrong.
Keira was then transferred to The Children’s Trust (a rehabilitation for children with brain injury), we were there 10 months and me and her older sister shania 10 stayed with her until we found suitable housing. During this time Keira worked hard to relearn some lost skills and find new pathways such as holding her own head up, smiling and eating a little orally it has been the hardest year of our lives.
Keira hasn’t had an easy ride, having being born with cystic fibrosis an illness which effects the lungs and digestive system. She had 3 bowel surgeries before she was 3 months old 1 at a day old, caught sepsis whilst in NNU and beat that too. She was diagnosed at 18 months old with mild cerebral palsy mainly effecting her right leg, she didnt walk until she was 2, She has always been a fighter and determined to do anything she wanted to do even ballet, and on sports day at school with her walking frame she would take part in everything. It breaks our heart that having been fighting her whole life already then to have to start again.
Keira has made so much progress but unfortunately there is not much therapy available in the community.
We now need help to continue Keira’s rehabilitation at home, in order for her to retain what she has learnt and to help her accomplish her full potential.
We would like her to have 2 weekly hydrotherapy sessions, physiotherapy, speech and language and hyperbaric oxygen therapy which is a breakthrough treatment where she would receive 100% oxygen in a chamber and exercise equipment.
Keira isn't able to return to her mainstream school and is currently waiting for a space at a special needs school.
For those of you who don’t know Keira, she is a fighter. She has always been a fighter. Sparks of her personality are starting to shine through and she continues to show me just how brave and courageous she is. I would be forever grateful for your donations for Keira and please share her story to get the support she needs and deserves.
Thanks for reading her story and if possible please could you donate even £1 to help her access these therapies , I understand times are extremely hard now for alot of families so we would understand if you can't spare anything but if you could share her page instead we would be extremely grateful.
Thank you from keiras family xxxx
