Keeping the Furniture Barn open & the delivery van mobile !

Do you want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money in aid of KNIGHTON AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY SUPPORT’s Furniture Barn. To help in keeping this valuable service up and running & their delivery van mobile.

The furniture barn is a big charity shop set in the center of Knighton and is part of the charity ‘Knighton & District Community Support’ .

The Furniture Barn was set up in order to raise funds to allow the charity to provide low cost / subsidised transport to the people of Knighton & the surrounding districts , due to being in a rural area with little or no public transport to get to & from medical appointments etc.

However with grants being so hard to obtain , donations we can sell in limited supply and the rising costs of disposing of items which we are unable to sell , along with utility supply costs ever increasing, insurance, repairs etc we are no longer able to guarantee we will remain open in the future.

If the barn is not able to keep its doors open &/or they do not have a van to pick up / deliver the furniture , then the charity will not be able to carry on, therefore the people of this community will suffer & not be able to get to their appointments.

Our Barn is run by our Chairperson and a manager, with a string of volunteers, all of whom give up their time freely (including the Chairperson & manager) & our volunteer drivers (used to take people to their appointments) give up their time free of charge and use their own vehicles. They get paid only for the mileage they travel at 45p per mile (as set by the HMRC).
