Create Caribbean 2018 Fundraiser
Donation protected
About one year ago in 2017, many of you showed up for us at Create Caribbean and made donations to help us rebuild what the Category 5 Hurricane Maria destroyed and stole from us. And we did. Those funds made all the difference in the world in helping us replace technology for our students and to be able to get our building back to functionality. We put a new roof, repainted the walls and did basic renovations so we could get back to work. And we did get back to work. We have made considerable progress on our projects thanks to generous institutional and individual support from our partners and well-wishers.
But building back and getting back to work after a major disaster is harder than it may look, it takes more resources than even we imagined. We are working hard at fundraising, grant writing, institutional partnerships and other efforts to ensure the sustainability of the Research Institute. But change is slow, especially when the small team at Create Caribbean is also experiencing personal change, growth and adjustment from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
So we're reaching out once again, hoping any small donation can get us to a more comfortable place in managing our day-to-day affairs while we continue to work on the big picture issues.
Here's what we want to do this year that needs your support:
1)support the cost of our operations (utilities and admin staff) so that we can continue to make our programs and services available to young people of Dominica and the Caribbean till the end of 2018.
2) support our ongoing outreach programs with school and community libraries
3) replace furniture lost during Hurricane Maria - whiteboards and student chairs
We know the world is full of many reasons that we all may be struggling in some way or another right now. But we are asking you to stand with us, against all these reasons, to keep institutions like Create Caribbean open and working for the public good. Thank you.
