My best friends, Jenny and her husband Ben Pulliam are an amazing couple, full of love and life. They have a very entertaining toddler, Henry. They have been blessed with the news they will be having a baby in the summer and all is perfect! Just as they had hoped, the new baby is a girl. Her name is Lucy.
Ben had been having headaches and was diagnosed with migraines. The medication wasn't helping so on December 18th, 2014, he was given an MRI. Brain tumor. His doctor scheduled immediate surgery to remove as much of the mass as possible. They got over 90%. The tumor would be found to be Glioblastoma, a very aggressive cancer that will continue to find its own blood supply and cannot be completely eliminated. He is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy to slow down the growth and give this beautiful family as much time as possible.
If you have any prior experience with this cancer, or you research it, you know how devastating it is.
Jenny is the art teacher at the small high school I work for in northwest Arkansas. Ben has been unable to work since his surgery and will hopefully be able to go back after his radiation and chemotherapy in 7 weeks. He works for Ferguson Enterprises, a plumbing supply company. As many young couples, they have lots of love and heart, but not money.
These people are very dear to me and I have their permission to share their story. I am hoping someone will be able to help them with finances. Obviously the surgery and therapy will be a huge financial hit and anything I can do to help my friends I'm willing to try. They do have some insurance, fortunately, but the out of pocket expenses are going to be astronomical.
I want to fix my friend's brain and take away this pain, but I will do what I can. I will pray, and I will try to find a way to ease the financial burden.
