Help Us Save Two Great Pyrenees Boys from a High-Kill Shelter!

At Foster Tales, we believe in the power of crowdfunding: when many people give small, affordable amounts, together, we can create something incredible. Right now, two massive Great Pyrenees boys urgently need your help. They are currently at the overcrowded Bakersfield high-kill shelter, taking up valuable space and facing a grim fate.

These gentle giants were kenneled together for a long time, but shelter stress caused them to start fighting. This morning, the shelter staff had no choice but to separate them into two kennels, doubling the space they occupy and making their situation even more dire. Sadly, the behavior caused by stress also makes other rescue options for them unlikely.

Despite this, we know their fighting was due to the overwhelming stress of their environment—not their nature. They deserve a second chance, and we’re determined to give it to them. But we can’t do it without you.

Why Do We Need Funding?

We already have everything else they need: foster homes, resources, systems, and a dedicated team ready to step in. What’s missing is the funding to cover their care and prepare them for adoption. Rescuing two large dogs like these is expensive, but every dollar helps.

Here’s what your contribution will go toward:

• Grooming: Their coats are in terrible shape and will cost about $250 per dog to restore.

• Medical Care: Both have the beginnings of an upper respiratory infection (a common shelter issue) and will need antibiotics and vet visits. If the infection worsens into pneumonia, hospitalization may be required.

• Neutering, Deworming, and Flea Treatment: Standard but critical for their health and adoption readiness.

• High-Quality Food: To help them heal and reach their healthiest selves.

• Supplies: Crates, collars, leashes, harnesses, and cleaning supplies for their foster homes.

• Transportation: Trips to the vet, adoption meetups, and more.

• Ongoing Foster Care Support: Covering the cost of keeping our foster homes functional and well-supplied while they wait for their forever families.

Because they are large male dogs, their time in foster care is likely to be longer than usual, adding to their overall costs.
