Kathy’s (Grubich) Mazza Fight For Her Life

Help Kathy fight the biggest fight of her life.

We are raising funds to support our beautiful and courageous friend Kathy who is presently battling an aggressive and rare form of cancer. Kathy has Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her brain and leptomeninges (the lining of the brain and spinal cord). This form of cancer is not curable and is extremely difficult to treat.

Her current options through the Canadian healthcare system are limited to whole brain radiation and further chemotherapy — treatments that can only slow the progression, not offer a cure. Despite this Kathy will continue to fight, she will be travelling to Immunity Therapy Centre (ITC) in Tijuana Mexico . ITC offers patients like Kathy who have been told they do not have any other treatment options find success. ITC programs offer patients less invasive treatment options and a 65% remission rate.

Kathy’s battle started In the summer of 2022, she discovered a lump in her breast. Despite her concern, delays in the healthcare system meant she had to wait two months before receiving diagnostic imaging. By the time she had a biopsy, the results were devastating. She began immediate treatment due to early fears of metastasis. In June 2023, she bravely underwent a double mastectomy in an effort to control the disease.

May 2025, Kathy received the news the cancer was back and spread to her brain and spinal fluid. Doctors explained this form of cancer is not curable and is extremely difficult to treat.

Kathy will not give up, this is not just a medical fight — it’s a fight for time, for quality of life, and for hope.
