Kathy Jenkins Medical Fund

Friends -
Kathy and Allen Jenkins have dedicated their lives to service of community and to those in need.  They are now facing trials they never anticipated and need our help. 
When Kathy was young she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the tumor was removed but required a shunt to be inserted into her brain/neck.  It was decided she didn't need any further intervention unless it became a problem...Well, it became a problem last year in July. 
After many neuro consults, hospitalizations, and surgeries, Kathy was on the road to recovery.  However, in February she began running consistent low grade fever and was losing weight, it was determined she had developed an infection and the shunt would have to be removed. Last week while at home Kathy began exhibiting signs and symptoms of neurological deficits and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where she underwent another operation.  Of the three outcomes doctors were considering, she has the most treatable, an infection known as Serratia.  She will undergo at least two months of IV antibiotic treatment as well as PT, OT, and speech therapy. 
Kathy has been unable to work for several months and as you can imagine this has taken its toll on their finances.  It is unknown if or when she will return to work however she must maintain her insurance; this can become expensive.  They need help now!
