Kat and Chad Fertility Fund
Don protégé
My son and his beautiful wife have been trying to conceive for over 15 years. After many years of numerous Dr visits, various invasive procedures and expensive tests, they were devastated to learned that both of them had issues and would not be able to have children naturally. IVF was their only option. IVF is very expensive and their insurance didn't cover any infertility costs. They knew they would have to pay all expenses out of pocket. For many years, they had to put babies on hold until they could afford to fund the IVF procedure.
Finally, after 8+ years, my son was able to make his wife's dreams come true by saving $20,000 for the IVF procedure and their baby. We were so happy and hopeful! They endured all the daily fertility hormone injections, sperm retrieval and time away from work, which was not easy. Their IVF procedure was a success! Several eggs had fertilized but sadly only a couple eggs survived past a few days. Alas, just one egg was successfully transferred through IVF!
Week after week, for 12 straight weeks, everything looked fantastic. It seemed so surreal, the fetal heartbeat was strong, promising and excitingly normal. They were making plans to announce the sex of the baby on Christmas Day which would have been about 16 weeks. They were so happy and eager to welcome their new little one. Unexpectedly, at week 13, they went to their normal scheduled OBGYN appointment only to find out that their babies heart was no longer beating and they had miscarried their only fertilized IVF egg and 13 week old baby. To add to their devastating disappointment, it cost them another $2,500 out of pocket medical expenses due to the miscarriage. It's not the Christmas miracle we had prepared for.
Now, here they are, they must start this process all over. IVF, which is a crushing cost that took everything my son could do to save the original $20,000. He worked so hard to give this gift to his wife. They are a loving couple that deserve another chance to conceive. I hope it is a worthy request to ask for your generous help to fund their next baby or babies. I know they wouldn't take it in stride and would be eternally grateful and humble for your help. They don't want to give up and I want to do everything I can to help them out! Please give what you can.
