Within our Hungarian community, a young family has fallen on hard times due to a sudden illness. The father, Attila, has been diagnosed with 4th stage cancer which has ravaged his entire body. Outside of emotional and physical help, they are in need of financial help. They have to young sons ages 4 and 6. Attila had just graduated from Wilfred Laurier University. As they say, they were just starting their lives and building a future for themselves and their children when they received the devastating news. Since they heard of the news, two weeks ago, Attila has been in the hospital where they are trying to make him as comfortable as possible. Aniko, his wife, is going between the hospital and home, taking care of their children. At this time, neither of them is working and the long term disability is not enough to pay the mortgage and other bills.
The Hungarian Canadian Club of Cambridge has started this fund to help the young family manage their bills and to help make sure that the young children have a roof over their heads and that the stress of finances is not a burden to them at this special time of Christmas and after.
We ask that anyone who has been in this situation, has a young family and who is able, to help this loving young family. It is important for us to help each other whenever we can. As stated above, emotional and physical support are always needed and sometimes that's all we can do. This family is grateful for everything they receive.
