Hi everyone,
We need your help. Karen Hearne-Hughes is a dear friend to me and countless others. A couple of weeks ago, she was diagnosed with aggressive ovarian cancer, which has now spread to other parts of her body.
Karen is currently being treated by a group of fantastic doctors at the Start Cancer Care Center in San Antonio, Texas. Due to a hiccup with her health insurance, Karen has to pay a lot of her medical expenses up-front and out-of-pocket. She needs to begin chemo right away, and waiting for her insurance to kick in is not an option. Not only are her medical bills climbing, but the expense of temporarily re-locating to the San Antonio area, as well as the many unexpected travel costs has taken quite a toll. At a time when she is focusing all of her strength and energy on healing, medical expenses should be the least of her concerns.
If you have ever met Karen, you know that she has touched countless lives. She has spent her career helping others live a healthier lifestyle. She is also well-known for her love of animals, having rescued and adopted many foster dogs over the years. With her high energy and positive outlook, she has brightened the days of her many friends and family. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with her family - particularly her three grandsons: Braden (4), Michael (2), and Brice (3 months).
