My name is Karam Nassar, and I am from Deir al-Balah, a place scarred by tragedy in the heart of the Gaza Strip. This once vibrant community now lies in ruins, rendered uninhabitable by conflict and devastation. On a fateful day, October 17, 2023, our home became a target of relentless airstrikes by the occupying forces. The deafening roar of bombs tore through our sanctuary, leaving behind a scene of unimaginable horror and despair. In an instant, I lost beloved family members and saw neighbors injured, their cries echoing through the rubble.

Amidst the chaos, one dream burned brightly within me - to study Telecommunications Engineering in Germany. I had taken the first steps towards this dream, diligently preparing for my master's studies amidst the challenges of daily life in Gaza. Learning the German language became my beacon of hope, as I reached out to universities and envisioned a future filled with promise.

But war knows no mercy, and my dreams were cruelly shattered. Yet, amidst the rubble of my shattered aspirations, a glimmer of hope remains - your kindness and generosity.
