Kami Swinney in the fight of her life!

Hello friends and family,

First, thank you for taking the time to click through and read this story. We are all very busy, but I know once you read this, you will see how important this is … and you can make a difference in the life of a beautiful person in a heartbreaking battle.

As parents, we would do anything to keep our children safe. But sometimes it’s out of our control. As is the case with two of my close friends, Kim and Chris Swinney.

They are amazing, loving parents of Taylor and Kami. Their family is one that I watch and can’t help but smile. They’re the definition of close and supporting of each other. They would do, and have done, anything to help their kids. As we parents know we’d do for our children. But some things are too big for one family to handle alone.

We all dream of healthy children and the chance of grandchildren. For the Swinney’s, that dream is being taken away. And that’s where we can help!

Kami, who is only 22, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Here’s her story in her own words…

Hi my name is Kami swinney, I’m 22 years old and I was diagnosed with breast cancer. More specifically stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma which is a tumor growing in the milk ducts of the breast and spreading to nearby tissue.

A couple months back I found a lump in my breast and didn’t think anything of it because I’m 22, why would I? But 3 months after finding the lump it grew very painful to a point that breathing began to hurt. I decided to go to the ER to get it looked at and they did an ultrasound.

From reviewing that, the doctor said I should be fine but they wanted me to see a specialist, just to double check since it is a large lump.

When I met with my specialist, she also believed it wouldn’t be anything to worry about because the odds of this mass being cancerous were 5%. We went forward with a biopsy on the mass only to find out it was cancer!

Without hesitation, we got a quick move on things and put a plan in place. My first steps are to get a chest CT and bone scan to confirm the cancer isn’t spreading through my body.

Next I made the decision to remove my eggs due to the fact my chemotherapy is going to kill my ovaries causing me not to be able to have kids.
I made the choice to get my eggs removed and freeze them so I have a chance at having children.

Once that is done, I will begin my fight.
My Chemotherapy treatments will consist of a TCHP regimen for 6 months to a year if all works right and kills the cancer cells!

Once my body has killed all the cancer cells I’ll then have a double mastectomy… just to be safe and hopefully avoid any of the cancer coming back.

It’s not going to be a quick or easy journey, it’s going to be long and hard but I have a village behind me and I’m ready to fight this thing!

So here’s where you come in… the process of harvesting, freezing, and maintaining Kami’s eggs, so she has a chance to be a mother, and her parents to be grandparents to her child, is not cheap! And time is of the essence!!! This procedure must be done before her treatment can start! There’s no time to lose!!

Let’s all help show Kami and her family that we know the joy of children and want to see her have this wonderful opportunity one day! Please help by donating anything you can! Leave Kami a note of support and share with everyone you can!

Let’s flood the Swinney’s with our love and support during this devastating time for their family!
