Aloha! ʻO Jaela kēia. This fundraiser is in support of the Shibuya ʻohana of Kaʻū, who, although affected by the recent storms and remaining without access to many basic needs like water or power, continue to give.

Anyone who has lived in or come through Kaʻū knows the Shibuyas are a pillar for the community. They are constantly giving and taking care of EVERYONE, keiki to kūpuna. For years, a free intersession program for keiki of Kaʻū, Kāhea Mai ka ʻĀina Academy at their farm (Mazaso Pig Farm) and is responsible for many of the important events and spaces that uplift and gather the community.

Uncle Dane, Aunty Terry, and their keiki have been serving the community around the clock following the storms, coordinating at hubs, and doing door-to-door drop-offs for kūpuna.

On top of this, Uncle Dane is also on an oxygen tank, and we know that access to medical needs has become more challenging following Hurricane Lala.
