Family of Keith Gillette

On Monday, July 11th, Keith went to Urgent Care for pain in his leg, within hours and multiple tests later he ended up being admitted to Lancaster General Hospital and was given a devastating diagnosis. He was told he has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). That evening he was transported to The Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia to begin Chemotherapy immediately.

Everything seemed to be going well until Saturday when things took a turn for the worse. It started with a headache so they took him for a head CT and discovered he had a moderate brain bleed which they were monitoring closely. Within hours the bleed became critical and was taken to the ICU. It became necessary for them to perform emergency surgery to relieve pressure on the brain and stop the bleeding.

Keith made it out of surgery but unfortunately the bleeding did not stop. His platelet count was too low for his blood to be able to clot due to the Chemotherapy and Leukemia, because of this everything they did in surgery quickly reversed. He was then put on life support to keep him alive until we were able to get to the hospital to say goodbye. He was taken off life support on Sunday morning was breathing on his own but we had been told that with the damage already done, his situation is unsurvivable. The doctors have informed us that he will be passing soon.

Keith passed away on Tuesday July 19th at 10:06am.

He lived with his daughter, Becky, who is now responsible for the expenses until the estate is settled.

We are very thankful to those who have already reached out with thoughts and prayers, they are greatly appreciated.

We are starting this fundraiser to allow Becky to cope with the loss of her father without the added financial stress.

If you could give anything, no matter how small it would mean a lot to us.
