Don protégé
Hi my name is Tangela and I’m raising funds to help my family. My husband has fallen on hard times financially and in his health. My husband was the main source of income for our family. However he lost his funding for his company then took on freelance contracts. Then those ended in January leaving myself as the only one working. I had to resign due to our being evicted. My job was in the insurance industry remotely. I was only with the company 6 months and didn’t have time accrued to take time off while we figured out our next move.
We became homeless for three months. Finally after my husband, Djuan, collapsed on Father’s Day this past June he was admitted to the hospital for diabetic ketoacidosis. He was in hospital for 3 days. He began more freelance work but his health continued to decline.
I needed help with him so I drove us to live with family and they took us in. A few days after he started the diabetic medication he started having small seizures everyday while taking the new medication. At this point he started losing his memory.
A few weeks later he started losing his speech and was confused. He began to speak incoherently. He went in for an MRI on last Friday August 11th but it came back normal even though we saw the affects the seizures had been having on him to where he was not recognizing his own family and wasn’t making sense with the words he was saying.
On Sunday morning he had a massive seizure which caused brain damage in the speech area of his brain. This was brought on by high blood sugar numbers, according to his neurologist. He is unable to speak properly and coherently. He can barely see. His memory is severely affected. He can’t say what his name is or my name or any of our children’s names.
He can’t be left alone in his hospital room because he may fall and hit his head due to limited vision and understanding of his surroundings. I have to help him with all basic everyday tasks.
His doctors said he needs speech therapy, occupational therapy, ongoing multiple medications for seizures, diabetes, nausea, and pain management.
We are in need of financial assistance for food, clothing, car payments, car maintenance, gas getting to and from appointments, medical copays, deductibles, prescriptions, and personal care items. This is what we will use the donations for.
I had to cancel all of his interviews until he has recovered and is capable of doing an interview again. I have had to put my career on hold momentarily until he becomes healthy again. We would sincerely appreciate any assistance great or small. Both monetary and/or tangible donations are welcomed.
Thank You in advance for helping us in our time of need.
