Jyl's Breast Cancer Fight!

We are setting this fundraising account up in support of Jyl Carter, who is fighting a very aggressive form of breast cancer. She is 36 years old, a mother, wife, daughter, and sister. During this time, we are hoping to raise funds to support her medical costs, as well as support her while she is unable to work during treatment. Below, we quote her words from her professional Instagram account.

"I didn’t think I would ever write this post. I’ve always shown a glimpse of my personal life, but kept a great deal private. This will remain an aesthetic account, but I feel called to share a moment of vulnerability and hopefully will educate someone in the process.

On June 15, I got a phone call no one ever wants to receive. A breast biopsy showed invasive ductal carcinoma. Not only was that challenging news, but it is classified as triple negative breast cancer, which means it is one of the most aggressive types of breast cancer and most difficult to treat. Testing showed I am positive for the BRCA 1 gene mutation. At 36, a mother, wife, daughter, and sister, I’ve learned cancer does not discriminate. I’ve learned than rather than holding on to anger and fear (which I still experience), I should find the joy in absolutely every situation, every single day. I’m a work in progress.

A friend told me this is a private battle, but I don’t need to fight it alone. I have never felt so loved and supported, and I thank every single person who has reached out. This week marks my fight with cancer, as I begin chemotherapy, and I’m ready to WIN. The nurse in me wants to tell each and every person who reads this to be your own advocate, know your body, be proactive! Let’s Go!!!!
