Southside Hospital killed my father and I demand justice.
My father, Hermann Belizaire, was diagnosed with covid sometime in Mid April. He recovered from covid, but the hospital withheld a lot of information from my family.
Everybody in my family is in the medical field, so we know proper precautions and protocols. They followed none.
Everyday since he was in the hospital, the doctors would call us with a daily report on my father. We made sure to ask for his vitals, his FI02 (concentration of oxygen inhaled), BUN (amount of urea nitrogen found in blood), temperatures, the antibiotics and medicines he was on, everything.
We have WRITTEN documentation of everything they said to us and the doctors names that spoke to us.
THEY FAILED to mention that his liver was failing. The last time they spoke to us, they told us the covid was still active in his body, so they wouldn't be held liable for his death. He wasn't producing clotting factors, and there are antibiotics to treat that.
They told us he had a nosebleed, which was a lie. They told us it was because he was on anti-coagulants (blood thinners) to prevent clotting, because he was in one position. He had a GI BLEED and lost 2 LITERS OF BLOOD - WHICH THEY ALSO FAILED TO TELL US, and bled so much he drowned in his blood, til it filled his lungs and he could no longer breathe on his own. They also told us it was his LUNGS that were failing, once again, give blame his death on covid.
Covid is a RESPIRATORY attack. NOT a Gastro-Intestinal Attack.
Prior to this however, they had told us his lungs WERE HEALING.
But by far the BIGGEST thing they failed to mention to the family, was that my father was BRAIN DEAD FOR 3 DAYS. None of us had clue.
I refuse to not get justice for my father.
These funds will go towards efforts towards justice and his memorial, because my father was robbed of a full life.
They took everything from me. And no amount of money could ever replace the absence of my father, but my father deserves the send off I know he would've wanted.
