Julia Make Cancer History

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julia Dykes. I’m a 24-year-old Baton Rouge native and LSU nursing school graduate. I started my nursing career in the NICU at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans and recently moved to Corpus Christi, TX. I currently work in the NICU at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. I love my job because the babies we work with are adorable and I get to see so many of them grow and go home with their families. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach in Port Aransas and coming back to Baton Rouge to see my family and friends.

Recently, I was diagnosed with a cancerous mass in my lung. Prior to starting treatment, they found that the cancer had metastasized to my brain and leg. My fantastic team at MD Anderson is moving quickly to get me cancer free.

Friday, September 1st, we have surgery to remove one of the tumors in my brain. After recovery from the surgery, we will begin chemotherapy and radiation to treat the other cancerous spots.

From the moment we found out about this, I have never felt alone. My family and I have been blessed with love and support from so many people ❤️. We greatly appreciate all of the thoughts, prayers, and kind words we have received. Please continue to send your prayers and know they are working.
